Jupiter, a community on Florida’s Treasure Coast

Jupiter, less than 20 miles north of West Palm Beach, is home to the Florida Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals spring training facilities as well as Scripps Florida, a state-of-the-art bio-medical research institute located on the Florida Atlantic University campus. The town, often symbolized by its signature brick red lighthouse, also claims the Florida History Center & Museum and several arts and entertainment festivals.

Jupiter has been inhabited since prehistory times and may have once been the site of the short-lived British Colony of Grenville in the 1700s. The town was chartered in 1925 and has grown steadily since. Today it is home to more than 50,000 people within its 21-square-mile area. It is now surrounded by sister towns, Tequesta, named for the local Indians, and Juno.

There are numerous fine restaurants offering a wide range of cuisine, some located on the waterfront offering views of the lighthouse and the many marinas for charter fishing. Trips up the Loxahatchee River, designated a wild and scenic river, will bring you to Jonathan Dickinson State Park in southern Martin County.
